What is statutory redundancy pay?
Statutory redundancy pay is the legal minimum your employer must pay you if you're made redundant. You're entitled to it if you've been employed for 2 or more years.
How much are you entitled to?
Your redundancy pay depends on your age and length of service:
- Half a week's pay for each full year under 22
- One week's pay for each full year aged 22-40
- One and a half week's pay for each full year aged 41 and over
Length of service is capped at 20 years. Weekly pay is capped at £700 (as of 2024).
Notice period
You're entitled to a minimum notice period:
- 1 week if employed 1 month to 2 years
- 1 week for each year if employed 2-12 years
- 12 weeks if employed 12+ years
